Filing for CFISD trustee starts Monday
Monday, Aug. 8, is the first day to file to run for two trustee positions in the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.
Trustees whose terms expire in November are Lawrence A. Youngblood, Position 1, and Ethel M. Wolfe, Position 2.
Both Youngblood and Wolfe won their first three-year term in 2008.
Wolfe said she will seek re-election.
On Monday, Youngblood wrote in an email that he is still considering what he will do.
Wolfe of Cypress Forest is an English teacher at Lamar High School in the Houston Independent School District.
Youngblood of Millridge North is retired after serving as president of Allan Business Resources Inc. ABR provided sales and support for oil and gas accounting software for various exploration and production companies. Youngblood said he does software training and independent consulting.
The deadline to file is 5 p.m. Sept. 7. The election will be Nov. 8.
Qualifications to run for school board as posted on the CFISD website are that a candidate must be a registered voter in the school district, and have lived in the school district for six months and lived in the state for 12 months before the filing deadline.
Trustees serve staggered, three-year terms. The entire board is never up for election at the same time.
To be elected, a candidate must receive a plurality of the votes cast. No runoffs are held.
All registered voters who live within the district are eligible to vote.
