Cypress man wins 'Americas Strongest Man' competition
Cypress resident Travis Ortmayer recently won the America's Strongest Man competition held in Hot Springs, Ark.
Ortmayer won three events outright and finished in the top three in seven out of eight events. He became the first athlete in American history to win America's Strongest Man, the U.S. National Championships and the North American Strongman Amateur National Championships.
Just a couple of days after America's Strongest Man, Ortmayer traveled to Vladivostok, Russia, to captain Team U.S.A against Russia. He and Team U.S.A won the Pacific Strong/PLSE U.S.A vs. Russia strongman contest, having won four out of five events.
In four weeks, Ortmayer will compete in the World's Strongest Man Competition, which will be held at Wingate University in Charlotte, N.C. This will be his fourth appearance.
