HS Football: Cy Springs falls to Mayde Creek
Cy Springs fell to Mayde Creek in high school football action at Rhodes Stadium Thursday.
The Panthers, 0-1, fumbled the ball five times and lost three of them in the defeat.
Cy Springs did out-pass Mayde Creek, 117-93, on the night.
Quarterback Terrance Jackson had a nice duel–threat performance for the Panthers. The junior signal caller threw for 117 yards and a score and rushed for 83 yards on 16 carries.
Wide receivers Devin Cash and Cyrus Gray each caught three passes in the loss. Cash tallied 99–yards and a score.
Cy Springs will host Cy Creek on Friday at 7 p.m. in the Berry Center.
The Rams, 1-0, won the game, 34-12. Mayde Creek led 24-6 at half time.
Running back Troy McCormick had a great game, scoring three touchdowns in the victory.
McCormick scored on a 56 yard pass from quarterback Tyler Dickson with 1:54 left in the first quarter. He also hit pay dirt on scoring runs of 56 and 10 yards. On the night, McCormick carried the rock nine times for 137-yards and caught the scoring strike for 56 yards.
Fellow Ram running back, Ronald Wilson, rushed for 78-yards on nine carries.
Mayde Creek outrushed Cy Springs 333 yards to 126 yards.
The Rams will host Willowridge on Saturday at 6 p.m. in Rhodes Stadium.
