Lone Star's Cy-Fair campus to kick off free enrichment classes
Lone Star College-CyFair (LSC-CyFair) will be offering “Learning, Inspiration, Fellowship, and Enrichment” (L.I.F.E.) workshops in September.
The workshops will cover topics including art, literature, health and astronomy. The programs are free and held Wednesdays from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. in the library, Room 131, unless otherwise noted.
On Sept. 7, the “Etch a Sketch” workshop will feature artist and Professor Tony Kram demonstrating the art of sketching a portrait.
On Sept. 14, “The Indian American Experience in Literature” workshop will feature Chitra Banerjee Divakaruni, an award-winning author, discussing her book An Amazing Thing. A book signing will follow in the Center for the Arts, Recital Hall 102.
On Sept. 21, the “Beyond Calcium” workshop will discuss keeping bones strong and healthy in today's sedentary society. Dr. Chase Hayden of the Hayden Institute will give alternative ways to improve bone density and avoid breaks.
On Sept. 28, the “When You Wish Upon a Star” workshop will feature virtual stargazing and amateur astronomy. Professor Ronnie Nespeca Learn will teach how the heroes of Greek mythology received a place in the heavens in memory of their deeds.
