Cy-Fair ISD announces volunteer events for September

Cy-Fair ISD has announced September events for its Volunteers In Public Schools (VIPS) program.

VIPS are volunteers who give their time to help Cy-Fair ISD students with personal and academic development.

A VIPS general meeting will take place from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Sept. 8 in the Berry Center, 8877 Barker Cypress Road. The meeting is open to school staff, volunteers, parents and community members.

Virtual volunteer training to learn how to manage a campus virtual volunteer account is scheduled from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 20 and from 1 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Sept 27 at the Instructional Support Center (ISC) West, 10494 Jones Road.  

PIE (Partners in Education) mentor training for individuals who want to serve as a role model and friend to students will be held from 9:30 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. on Sept. 14 and 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on Sept. 27 in the Berry Center.

Hearing certification training, required in order to assist in hearing testing, will take place from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 21. RSVP to your school's nurse by Sept. 16.

Vision certification training, required in order to assist in school vision screening, is scheduled from 9:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. on Sept. 22 in the Berry Center. RSVP to your school's nurse by Sept. 16.

Junior Achievement coordinator training, which is required to implement a JA program, will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. on Sept. 28 in the Berry Center.

A VIPS TAG (Talented And Gifted) team meeting to train members to work with students will be held from 9:30 a.m. to noon on Sept. 30 in the Berry Center. The training is designed for those interested in helping students reach their academic potential.

Meeting dates for Primary Reading and Writing Training to assist kindergarten and first grade students and Reading and Writing Training to volunteer with second through fifth grades are planned, but the meeting dates have not yet been determined.
