Youth cross-country team to hold registration in Cy-Fair

Registration for the Northwest Flyers Youth Cross-Country Team will start Wednesday, Sept. 7.

The mission of the Northwest Flyers Track Club is to foster the development of youth track and field in Northwest Houston and to provide long-term growth opportunities to athletes through their association with the sport.  

The Northwest Flyers Track Club was started in 1987 to help girls in Northwest Houston participate in youth track and field. Fred Newhouse, an Olympic gold medalist in track, was one of the primary organizers of the club. The early success of the club led to expanding the membership to both boys and girls.  

Any runner age 6 to 18 may join the team. The  2011 cross-country practice schedule can be viewed at www.northwestflyers.org.

Registration is being held at the Cypress Creek YMCA Lake Trail, 19915 State Highway 249, and will continue through Tuesday, Sept. 20.
