Lone Star Chevrolet Sponsors 5K Run to Raise Money for the Travis Manion Foundation

Lone Star Chevrolet is very proud and honored to sponsor this year’s 5K Run to raise money for the Travis Manion Foundation on September 11th at Ellington Field.

Lone Star Chevrolet asks their community to join them at Ellington Field on September 11 to help raise money for the Travis Manion Foundation.

Lone Star Chevrolet, their sister store Ron Craft Chevrolet, and their brand General Motors along with Chevrolet are sponsors of this event honoring a brave young man who lost his young life on his second tour of duty in Iraq.

Travis Manion joined the military right after 9-11, and served a tour of duty in Iraq. He then signed up to go back for a second time. When friends and family asked Travis why he would do such a thing, he replied, “If not me, then who?” After Travis lost his life, his mother and father started the Travis Manion Foundation to support the troops, police officers, and fire fighters.

“I really want to let you know about something that is happening on September 11, 2011. As you probably are aware, this year is the 10th anniversary of the 9-11 tragedy. I think the first thing all of us need to think about when we remember this date is that we can all remember exactly where we were and what we were doing. Kind of like when John Kennedy was shot. The date 9-11 will forever liver in our minds and our country’s fabric. It was also the day that a lot of our youngest and brightest signed up to join the military and fight for that one thing that is not free, and that is freedom itself,” said Carolyn Cross, General Manager of Lone Star Chevrolet.

The Foundation is involved in a 5K run in over 55 cities nationwide. In Texas, the run will be held in Houston, Dallas, and San Antonio. They are honored that Col. Tom Manion and his wife will be in attendance at their Houston location. Houston Police Department, Houston Fire Department, DPS officers, Mayor of Houston, and many other folks will be joining in the run on September 11th at Ellington Field to raise money for this worthy cause.
