Lone Star's Cy-Fair campus seeks student outreach leaders
Lone Star College-CyFair (LSC-CyFair) is currently seeking candidates to be Student Outreach and Retention (S.O.A.R.) leaders.
S.O.A.R. leaders participate in a variety of orientations and all tours for the college and campus events. They serve as mentors, peer advisors and student representatives on campus committees. In addition, they assist College Connection Advisors with special programs at area high schools.
“S.O.A.R. leaders support both the Outreach and Retention and Student Activities departments in reaching out to all prospective students for the college, helping new students adjust to campus and returning students stay engaged,” said Director of Outreach and Retention Christine Timmerman. “S.O.A.R. is an outstanding opportunity to have a meaningful position that helps make a difference for students and the college.”
For those interested in being S.O.A.R. leaders, they must be current students in good academic and disciplinary standing, have a minimum 2.50 grade point average, have completed at least 12 credit hours by the end of the Fall 2011 semester and be able to participate in some mandatory events, including weekly Friday staff meetings from 1:30 p.m. to 3 p.m.
S.O.A.R. applications should be delivered by 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 21, to the Outreach and Retention Department at the Barker Cypress campus located in the Center for Academic and Student Affairs, room 100.
