Program reminds people not to forget 9/11
Speakers during the dedication ceremony included State Rep. Bill Callegari, R-Katy; Lone Star College CyFair President Audre Levy and Mike Montgomery, a Harris County fire marshal who traveled to New York City to help in the aftermath of the attacks. Montgomery went as a member of the Texas Task Force 1 Urban Search & Rescue Team, one of 28 teams established by the Federal Emergency Management Agency to respond to incidents. Honored were Lawrence Lieder and his wife, Mildred Lieder is a founding member of the fire department, which was established in 1962. [...] honored were Lieder's son and daughter-in-law, Roger and Kathy Roger Lieder, of Tex-Fab, served with the Houston Fire Department for 25 years and is now focused on helping Whitehall firefighters in Grimes County fight the forest fires that are consuming Texas. Tex-Fab, Siddons-Martin Emergency Group and Joiner Partnership made donations toward the department's 9/11 memorial, which is one of approximately 1,500 in the country to have a portion of steel from the World Trade Center.
