Lone Star's Cy-Fair campus to host fall business seminars
Lone Star College-CyFair (LSC-CyFair) will host free business success seminars this fall.
This series of six seminars, designed to help build successful businesses, will cover various aspects of social media as well as a discussion on Harris County’s business climate. No sign up is required and there will be door prizes.
On Wednesday, Sept. 28 “The Commissioner Speaks” seminar will be held. Steve Radack, commissioner for Harris County Precinct 3, will discuss the current business climate in Harris County, including transportation issues such as the Grand Parkway.
On Wednesday, Oct. 5 the “Measure Your Marketing Efforts” seminar will be held. It will discuss effectively using social media for marketing. Siva Yenneti will reveal methods on how to spend time wisely, what to monitor and what tools to use.
On Wednesday, Oct. 12 the “Google Tools for Advertising on the Internet” seminar will be held. Joanna Tubbs, advertising executive and reference assistant, and Rose Botkin, librarian, will talk about economical ways to use Google, AdWords and AdSense, as well as managing an online presence.
On Wednesday, Oct. 19 the “Facebook Essentials” seminar will be held. People will learn the basics of how to set up a business on Facebook and get practical tips on how to promote using Facebook from LSC-CyFair's director of instructional and organizational development, Melissa Rotholz.
On Wednesday, Oct. 26 the “Driving Revenue With Social Networking, LinkedIn and Google+.” LinkedIn is a social media site specifically for business. Eric Standlee of American Prudential Capital will present a step-by-step approach to not only how to join, but also how to maximize its effectiveness.
And on Wednesday, Nov. 2, the “eBay Selling and Buying” seminar will be held. People will get practical advice on how to use eBay and other online marketplaces for advancement of their business from Chris M. O’Rourke of Outback Western Wear, the Lone Star College 2010 Small Business of the Year finalist.
The free weekly seminars will be held Wednesdays from 7:45 a.m. to 8:45 a.m. in the library, room 131, on the Barker Cypress campus at 9191 Barker Cypress.
