Musical event benefits Military Moms of Texas
Music flowed from the guitar strings and microphones at the Cypress Saloon on Aug. 6, and it wasn't just for entertainment; it was for the troops. The first Dewey Fest, spearheaded by Houston-area recording artist Dewey Wayne, was a charity event to benefit and raise awareness for Austin-based Military Moms of Texas. MMOT, according to its Website at www.militarymomsoftexas.com has no political or religious affiliation and supports all branches of the U.S. military. Nearby, Sgt. Shawn Mayne, who serves as an U.S. Army recruiter in Cypress, enjoyed a cold drink and a little music as he waited for some fellow soldiers to arrive.
