Cy-Fair Roundup: District 17-5A an obstacle course
Langham Creek fell to Cy Ridge 35-34 on the last play of the district opener, but bounced back by beating Jersey Village 65-58 on Sept. 15 and Cy Springs last week, and with those point totals, you have to remember this is football and not basketball. When asked if he's concerned about his defense allowing 40.75 points per game on the season (163 in four games), 45 points per contest in district (135 in three), and 50 points per outing over the last two, Thompson laughs, says Yeah! and adds: We're going to keep trying to make adjustments and play better than the week before. Langham Creek junior starting quarterback Connor Feist returned from an injury after sitting out against Jersey Village and threw for 235 yards and four touchdowns on 19-of-25 passing with no interceptions last week. Cy Falls senior running back Tre Clark gave the Eagles a world-class start by returning the opening kickoff 85 yards for a touchdown and then scoring on a 59-yard run just two minutes later during a 28-0 win against Cy Ridge on Sept. 22. Jersey Village erased a 31-21 deficit with a 27-0 fourth period in a 48-31 victory over Cy Lakes, and the Falcons did it using a four-headed monster consisting of quarterback Clay Magnuson, running back Victor Brown and wide receiver Connor Neagli (all seniors), and junior wide out Jamie Parker Magnuson threw for 327 yards and five touchdowns on 19-of-26 passing with no interceptions, Brown rushed for 200 yards and two scores on 22 totes, Parker had eight receptions for 165 yards and two touchdowns, and Neagli scored three times on seven catches for 133 yards.
