Free spay-neuter clinic to be around Houston

Houston-area residents who qualify will be able to get their dogs and cats spayed and neutered for free in October.

Qualifying low-income pet guardians will be able to get their cats and dogs free spay and neuter surgeries at the following locations in October.  

Surgeries will be offered during the following times and locations: Oct. 3 at the Aldine Youth Center, located at 4700 Aldine Mail Route, on Oct. 4 at PetCo, located at 210 E. FM 1960 & Hwy 59, on Oct. 5 at Wal-Mart, located at 3750 I-10 East and Freeport, on Oct. 6 at Bayland Learning Center, located at 6400 Bissonnet and Hillcroft, on Oct. 7 at Harris County Courthouse, located at 14350 Wallisville, Oct. 12 at Magnolia Multi Service Center, located at 7037 Capitol, Oct. 13 at Food Fair, located at 6470 W. Little York and Bingle, on Oct. 14 at PetSmart, located at 5941 E. Sam Houston, on Oct. 19 at San Jac/Highlands, located at 604 Highland Woods/Highlands, on Oct. 20 at Office Depot, located at 10724 Eastex, on Oct. 21 at PetCo., located at 210 E. This free service is available to those who qualify for food stamps, TANF, Medicaid, Harris County Hospital District Gold Card, SSI/SSD, free school lunches, Major VA Disability or Section 8 Housing.

The SNAP advance team advises that those interested should arrive on site by 6 a.m. to put their names in a lottery, which will determine your place in line. All pets must be restrained and should not have any food after 10 p.m. the night before surgery, according to the brief.
