Houston Family Arts Center to hold auditions for 'A Lesson Before Dying'
The Houston Family Arts Center will hold auditions for the play “A Lesson Before Dying” on Saturday, Nov. 19 and Monday, Nov. 21.
The play, adapted by Romlus Linney from the Pulitzer Prize-nominated novel by Ernest J. Gaines, concerns an innocent young man condemned to death in backwoods Louisiana in 1948.
Actors can make an appointment by emailing auditions@houstonfac.com for an audition time slot. They must include their desired role and a phone number.
The audition will consist of a one-minute memorized dramatic monologue and cold readings from the script. Auditions will be performed in front of a panel, including the director, assistant director/stage manager and producer. Actors should bring a resume and head shot or photo if they have them.
Auditions will be held from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. on Nov. 19, with call-backs from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m. on Nov. 21 at the HFAC, located at 10760 Grant Road in Houston.
