Memorial company, Cy-Fair resident named in defamation suit

A Memorial company is being sued over claims it wrongly fired one of its employees.

Robert Thomure, Jr. filed a defamation lawsuit on Oct. 24 in Harris County District Court against Memorial company Technip USA, Robert Brown of Memorial and Derek Smith of Cy-Fair.

Former Technip employee Thomure says on Nov. 11, 2010, the company fired him after a co-worker, defendant Brown, and his manager, defendant Smith, lied about him to management regarding his work on a controversial energy project.

According to the brief, Brown lied about what was said during a meeting with Brown, Thomure and an employee of Sen. John Cornyn, and Smith lied about the frequency of Thomure’s communications with him.

Thomure is seeking actual and exemplary damages, as well as court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Darryl Carter.
