Hours to change at Northwest recycling facility

The City of Houston’s Solid Waste Management Department will be changing hours of operation at six neighborhood depositories.

Beginning Sunday, Nov. 6, the locations will be open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. five days a week, Wednesday through Sunday, except holidays.

The locations are 6023 Windfern in the northwest, 5565 Kirkpatrick in the northeast, 9003 N. Main in the north, 2240 Central in the southeast, 5100 Sunbeam in the south and 10785 Southwest Freeway in the southwest.

The neighborhood depositories accept heavy trash, furniture, tree limbs, stoves and other large appliances. Appliances containing refrigerant must have a tag attached to them certifying that a qualified technician has removed the refrigerant.

The sites are also recycling drop-off facilities, which accept paper, glass bottles and jars, corrugated cardboard, aluminum and tin cans, and plastics #1 through #5 and #7.

Depositories will also accept up to 10 automobile tires per trip per residential unit. Additionally, a maximum of four cubic yards of building material will be accepted, though roofing shingles, brick, plaster or concrete will not be permitted.
