Orthopedic surgeon in Cy-Fair blamed for patients death
Family members are suing over claims an orthopedic surgeon in Cy-Fair caused the death of a loved one.
Jeanne Johnston and others, on behalf of the deceased Duane Stephen Johnston, filed a wrongful death suit against Plinio Caldera, M.D., doing business as Orthopedic Associates.
The plaintiffs say Caldera’s negligence caused their family member, Duane Johnston, to die of a heart attack on Dec. 17, 2009. According to the brief, Caldera performed a knee replacement surgery on Johnston on Dec. 8, 2009 at Methodist Center for Orthopedic Surgery in Cy-Fair, without obtaining a cardiac screening.
The suit alleges Calera’s mismanagement caused Johnston’s death.
The plaintiffs are seeking damages and court costs. They are being represented in the case by The Woodlands attorney Tommy Hastings.
