Cy-Fair nonprofit named in slip-and-fall suit
A nonprofit organization that hires persons with disabilities is being sued over claims its employees improperly painted a wheelchair ramp at a rest area, which caused a woman to slip, fall and injure her shoulder.
Patricia Ream filed a lawsuit on Nov. 18 in Harris County District Court against On Our Own Services, with a location in Cy-Fair, citing negligence.
Ream says on June 8, 2010, she injured her shoulder when she stopped at a Colorado County rest area, located off Interstate 10. According to the brief, she slipped and fell on a wheel chair ramp that had been incorrectly painted with slick acrylics by the defendant’s employees. Â
Ream claims she was on the ground for almost 20 minutes until another motorist found her and transported her to the emergency room.
Ream is seeking damages and court costs. She is being represented in the case by The Woodlands attorney Tommy Hastings.
