Cy-Fair company accused of discrimination, retaliation

A Cy-Fair company is being sued by an employee over claims it turned a blind eye to a racially hostile work environment.

Thaddeus Eatmon filed a lawsuit on Dec. 5 in Harris County District Court against Dril-Quip, Inc., of Cy-Fair, citing discrimination and retaliation.
 
Eatmon says that as an African-American employee at Dril-Quip, he endured false accusations, racial slurs and a racially offensive work environment. According to the brief, when Eatmon reported these incidents, the company retaliated by suspending him without pay and reducing his overtime.

The suit further alleges a quality control supervisor at the company suggested to Eatmon that he ignore these acts, as the men who committed them had worked at the company for a very long time.

Eatmon is seeking compensatory and punitive damages, as well as attorney’s fees and court costs. He is being represented in the case by Houston attorney Charles Peckham.
