Houston Family Arts Center Actors Academy performs at New York theatre festival
The cast of Kissless performed six times during the New York Musical Theatre Festival, Sept. 26 through Oct. 16.
The musical was written by Houston local Chance McClain and tells the story of two people who develop an unlikely relationship when they are forced to spend the summer together. The performance included 27 Houston teens and young adults as the musical's motley cast of misfits.
"We're elated that our actors had the opportunity of a lifetime to perform Off-Broadway," said Bob Clark, Houston Family Arts Center executive director, in a press release.
This represented the first time a group from Houston performed at the festival. It was the only full production musical not cast in New York.
The cast included Summer, Tyler Galindo as Derek, Julia Green as Elizabeth, Matt Buzonas as Clint, Sierra Gant as Mary Ann, Raegan Roberts as Sally, Cameron Worthen as Chet, Megan Blackmon as Betsy, Ronna Mansfield as Caroline, Tyce Green as Dr. Spinks, Michael Chiavone as Damon, Maddie Dennison as Holly, Austin and Ryan Jacobs as Kyle, Mark Jammal as Cory, Jordan McLaughlin as Caleb, Ryne Nardechhia as Bernie, and Jessie Brownie as Gretchen. The show is rounded out with an ensemble of talented singers and dancers: David Allen, Christie Boriack, Rachel Broussard, Jelena Galagaza, Noah McClain, Natalie Patton, Sarah Rentcome, Kristin Rice and Lindsey Vrana.
