Gary Kinninger

Gary Kinninger was recently named the new principal of Cypress Woods High School.

Kinninger is the current principal at Spillane Middle School and will replace Sue McGown, who accepted an educational leadership position in Missouri last month.

Kinninger has 29 years of experience in education. Prior to opening Spillane in 2005, he was a principal at Campbell Middle School for three years and a director of instruction at Campbell for one year. He also served five years as an assistant principal at Cypress Creek and Langham Creek High Schools. Prior to arriving in CFISD, Kinninger taught high school math for nine years in Florida’s Lake County schools.

Kinninger received his bachelor’s degree in education from Ohio Northern University and a master’s of education from Sam Houston State University. He is also certified in mid-management educational administration.

“It is an honor and a blessing to be named as the principal of Cy Woods High School,” Kinninger said, according to a press release. “I am looking forward to continuing the exemplary standards that have been established at the campus. Of my 29 years of experience in education, 17 were spent at the high school level; therefore I am looking forward to returning to the high school setting.”
