Cy Woods students qualify for thespian convention

Three Cypress Woods High School theater students qualified for the International Thespian Conventionscheduled for June in Lincoln, Neb.for their performances at the Texas State Thespian Convention in Corpus Christi in November.
Seniors Katie Bennett and Allison Houser received second place ratings on their Duet performance of August Osage County" by Tracy Letts. Similarly, senior Austin Crow qualified for the International Thespian Convention with his solo pantomime, which also placed second.
Bennett and Houser were also recognized by the society for their outstanding work, and each has been awarded a scholarship to pursue a theatre arts degree. Overall, Cypress Woods garnered two of the 10 acting scholarships awarded to Texas high school students at the competition.
"The Cy Woods theatre department is proud of the success of its students while attending Texas Thespian Convention, and their hard work serves as an example for future students of the program to succeed," said Tim Estelle, Cypress Woods theatre arts director. "It's always a pleasure to watch students experience considerable success in response to their hard work and dedication to their craft. Allison, Austin and Katie are deserving of their recognition, as well as all of the students in our program who represented our program and campus."
