TxR Paintball to Stage an Eight-hour Scenario Game

TxR Paintball, short for Texas Ranger Paintball, will be holding its first eight-hour scenario game on Sunday, Feb. 19. The game, called “Fractured Fairy Tales,” will be held on TxR’s well-known playing fields in Cypress. The event will serve as a prelude to two national scenarios that will be held in the spring and fall of 2012.

“Eight-hour scenario games are shorter ‘sprint’-style events. It is a local event which allows players to attend without the need to schedule time off for travel,” says Kelly McNeill, co-owner of TxR Paintball. “With TxR hosting two national-level scenarios in the spring and fall, an eight-hour event is a great way for new players and veterans alike to get on the field and shake out the cobwebs.”

Scenario games differ from regular formats in that a scenario has a dedicated theme, storyline, and preset schedule. Eight-hour games are junior versions of 12-hour games—both do not have night play and frequently are played by mostly local players because of the short duration of game time. Bigger scenarios could last for 24 or 26 hours with night play and thus pulls players from regional and national-level teams. TxR’s last 26-hour scenario game followed the plot of “A Nightmare before Christmas” and was held this past Nov. 11-13.

“Fractured Fairy Tales” is an original storyline being produced and written by Bobby Goedecke, former writer and ultimate judge for MXS Scenarios, set in the fantasy world of Everafter. The game may be played by anyone from all skill levels and with all styles of play.

Registration for “Fractured Fairy Tales” will soon be opened. For inquiries and updates on the game, players can visit TxR’s website, www.txrpaintball.com, or call 281-357-4300. TxR Paintball is located at 15550 Grant Road in Cypress.
