Athlete alumni: Women's basketball, Florida Gulf Coast vs. North Florida
Nicoya Jackson, a 5-foot-6 senior guard for the Florida Gulf Coast Eagles, scored six points, pulled down three rebounds, made three steals and had an assist in a 68-34 home win over the University of North Florida on Saturday.
Jackson was a four-year basketball letter-winner at Cypress Springs High School and the team's newcomer of the year in 2006. She earned first-team all-district, all-region and all-conference honors on two occasions.
Jackson played two seasons at Southwestern Christian College before transferring to Florida Gulf Coast. Jackson averaged 20.1 points per game during her sophomore season.
The 22-year-old Houston native is the daughter of Tracey Jackson and majors in criminal justice.
