Cy Creek student wins CECs Yes I Can! Award
A Cypress Creek High School student has won the Council for Exceptional Children’s annual Yes I Can! Award.
Student James Parker will receive the award in April at the CEC 2012 Convention and Expo in Denver.
Parker, who also won an academic achievement award in 2011, received this honor for his success in vocational training and independent living skills, according to a Cypress-Fairbanks ISD news release.
Cypress Creek principal Jim Wells said this about Parker in the release: “The vision for James as an engaged individual, contributing to the betterment of his community with a viable service rendered allows for a sense of shared fulfillment for his family members, educational system and responsive community."
During the convention, CEC will give Parker a statue designed by sculptor Michael Naranjo.
