Get patriotic with Northwest Assistance Ministries
NAM's upcoming Art of the Homeless event will have the Washington monument as its theme.
The event begins NAM's Survival Over Summer food drive at Willowbrook Mall. Groups that take part in the event try to collect at least 1,000 nonperishable food items and create sculptures with them, which are displayed at the mall for two weeks.
Sculptures will be built on Feb. 26 and taken down on March 11, when winners are announced.
The cans of food go into the NAM food pantry after the event to be distributed to families in need.
