Firearms industry matches ATF gun-theft reward
The National Shooting Sports Foundation will match a $5,000 federal reward for information leading to the arrest and conviction of suspects in eight burglaries at Federal Firearms Licensees in the Houston area.
The foundation is the trade association for the firearms industry.
"Our matching reward offer will hopefully help assist ATF (Bureau of Alchol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives) and local law enforcement in solving this crime against a federally licensed firearms dealer and lead to the swift recovery of stolen firearms before they can enter the illegal underground black market where they can be misused to commit violent crimes," Steve Sanetti, foundation president said in a press release.
The reward applies to the following burglaries:
-Dec. 12, Cypress Jewelry and Loan, 11133 Huffmeister in Cypress; 37 firearms stolen; ATF and Harris Co Pct 4.
-Dec. 17, Great Texas Gun Co., 6951 State Highway 21 East in Bryan; 80 firearms stolen; ATF and Brazos County Sheriff's Office. A reward was previously offered.
