Cypress Lakes teachers prepare for trip to Saudi Arabia
Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District teachers Shelby Touchy, Andy White and Katherine Cantu will spend spring break in Saudi Arabia on a trip sponsored by the World Affairs Council of Houston and Aramco Services.
The three are part of a group of 10 that was chosen to take the trip. WAC's mission is to promote better understanding among people in different parts of the world so that individuals can participate more fully in the world community.
Previous trips have taken teachers to China, Vietnam, Cambodia, Turkey, Russia and more. The current trip will include visits to the Saudi Aramco compound, Jeddah and Riyadh to meet with local teachers in those areas.
"I am looking forward to traveling with other teachers who share an interest in the Middle East." Touchy said in a press release. "We will be able to help each other figure out how to use our experiences to enrich our students learning."
The teachers will return to their classes after the trip to share what they have learned with their students, which they are excited to do.
