Cypress Woods High School student selected as candidate for scholars program

Cypress Woods High School, Spring Cypress Road, Cypress, has selected senior Hannah Richter as a candidate for the United States Presidential Scholars Program.

The program was established in 1964 by Executive Order of the President and recognizes and honors some of the nation's most distinguished graduating seniors.

Students are selected based on their accomplishments in academic and artistic areas, as well as their leadership skills and involvement in school and the community.

Richter is active in orchestra, soccer, National Honor Society, Proclaim the Name and Spanish NHS and often volunteers for missions and events through Cypress Bible Church. She was named an AP Scholar with Distinction in 2011 and received Superior Performance ratings on the cello in both solo (2009-2011) and ensemble (2011) competitions. Richter was a member of the Distinguished Honor Roll in 2009 and 2010 and the Honor Roll in 2011.
