Lone Star College-CyFair to offer free events for Women's Month

In celebration of Women's Month, Lone Star College-CyFair is offering free events throughout March.

Two stand-out events of the month both focus on domestic violence and how to keep women safe. The first event is Thursday, March 1, and features an expert in the study of predicting and managing violence, Robert Martin, who will discuss how women can protect themselves from danger.

Best-selling author Patricia Evans will also discuss verbally abusive relationships March 7. Her discussion will offer insight into how women can learn to recognize when verbal abuse occurs, respond to it and heal.

Additional events include speaker Dr. Rebecca Sharpless' presentation Wednesday, Feb. 29, on stereotypes among African-American cooks; a potluck lunch Thursday, March 1, featuring generational recipes; a self-defense crash course offered March 5 and March 6; an information session regarding HPV and women's health March 8; an essential oils course for women's health and wellness March 20 and March 22; a "Breaking Boundaries in the Workforce" panel will host a discussion March 28; and a concert March 29 will feature Paige Lewis.

All events will be held at the college, located at 9191 Barker Cypress.
