Campbell Middle School uses grant to build hands-on garden lab
Campbell Middle School is utilizing a $2,500 one-year grant from the Texas Department of Agriculture to build a hands-on garden laboratory.
Campbell Middle School sixth graders and New Arrival Center students have joined with Boy Scout Troop 1944 and the Cypress Ranch High School National Honor Society to build the garden beds. The garden laboratory allows students to develop and practice agricultural techniques and see firsthand how many common foods and textile plants are grown and tended to.
“I am absolutely thrilled about our garden,” said Campbell principal Cheryl Henry in a press release from the school. While the grant year ends in June, the garden is part of the school's longer-term goal of providing similar hands-on labs in other subject areas, according to Henry.
Campbell Middle School is located at 11415 Bobcat Road in Houston. For more information, click here.
