Cypress Creek student featured in 'Best of the High School Press'

Cypress Creek High School junior, Lexie Baugh, had a photograph published in the National Scholastic Press Association’s 17th annual Best of the High School Press.

Baugh is a third-year yearbook staff member and is the 2011-2012 assistant photo editor.

The photo depicts a Precinct 4 deputy constable, who had been working at the school, departing the campus for the last time after the school threw him a farewell party.

“It says a lot about her journalistic instincts that she didn’t stop shooting when the party ended because the moment she captured had far more impact,” said journalism advisor Jen Sansburym in a press release. “I am so proud her image has been published as an example for student photojournalists around the country.”

The photo originally ran in the April 2011 issue of Cougar Connection, the Cypress Creek student newspaper, accompanying a story about officers on campus.
