Harris County authorities investigating fatal accident

Harris County detectives are investigating a March 9 four-vehicle accident that left a woman in a parked car dead.

Killed was Lauren Hanes, age and address unavailable. She was transported by ambulance to a nearby hospital where she was pronounced dead at 9:21 p.m.

According to a Harris County Sheriff's Office news release, the accident occurred at about 3:12 p.m. as a 2009 GMC Yukon traveled north across a grassy field from a private drive, entered the eastbound lane of Willow River Drive and struck the right side of a parked 2004 Honda Pilot. Hanes was a passenger in the right front seat of the Pilot.

The initial crash forced the Pilot into a Ford Expedition that was stopped in the westbound lane of Willow River and, in turn, knocked the Expedition into an unoccupied Honda Accord, parked on Willow River.
 
The accident is currently being investigated by the Harris County Sheriff's Office traffic enforcement section.
