Cy Ridge alum leads U of Tennessee to win on the diamond
Chris Fritts, a 2009 graduate of Cy-Ridge High School, collected two hits and drove in a run to help the University of Tennessee to a 5-4 win over Florida in men's college baseball action Saturday.
In high school, Fritts set school records for batting average, home runs and RBIs. He was a four-year letter winner and three-time All-District selection. He was ranked as the 63th overall prospect in Texas by PGCrossChecker.com during his senior season, when he batted .547 with four home runs, 25 RBIs and 12 stolen bases.
As a junior, Fritts hit .412 with nine home runs and 35 RBIs.
He is the son of Tom and Janet Fritts, and is a public relations major.
