Cy Ridge cadet wins ROTC award
Cypress Ridge High School Junior ROTC cadet Jared Reese earned the Texas Society of the Sons of the American Revolution Enhanced Junior ROTC award March 24 at the state society conference in San Antonio.
This award is presented to cadets selected for having a high degree of merit with respect to leadership qualities, military bearing and general excellence. Reese was required to write an original essay on the topic, “How JROTC has prepared me to be a better citizen of the United States.”
Reese was nominated by JROTC instructor Lt. Col. Porfirio Muñoz and recommended by Cypress Ridge High School principal Claudio Garcia. The Robert Rankin Chapter of the TXSSAR selected Reese to compete for and eventually win the state society award.
