Budding artist aims to make big splash

Post Elementary School fifth-grade student Courtnee’ Stanford was one of two Cy-Fair ISD students chosen to participate in the Education in Action 2012 Spring Break Lone Star Leadership Academy during the week of March 12 to March 16.

Her selection for the Dallas-Fort Worth program was based on her demonstrated academic success and leadership ability, as well as involvement in school or community activities.

Grade: 5

Accomplishments: Won a spot in the Cy-Fair art display at LSC for the most creative abstract art in second grade, completed Lone Star Leadership Academy in 2012, is on principal’s honor roll since first grade, perfect attendance every nine weeks in 2011-2012, music certificate 2011-2012, has received academic achievement award from principal.

Favorite class: “Science. I want to be an obstetrician, and it is the easiest subject for me.”

Favorite thing to do after class: “My hobby is creating mermaid tails that you can actually swim in. I also like to play SIMS computer games, read and play my recorder. I also like to add things to my website and my mermaid YouTube account.”

Favorite song: Everybody” by V.V. Brown

Favorite website: “I have my own website, www.friendsandfins.moonfruit.com. I enjoy this because I learned how to add the content myself, and I can share it with my friends and fans.”

Favorite TV show: “Degrassi: The Boiling Point.” It is full of drama and epic-ness, it lets me learn about real teen issues.”

Favorite Movie: “ ‘Avatar.’ The Navi tribe is awesome.”

Ambition: “I love to draw. I am great at drawing people. My friends always ask me to draw things for them. I’m best at drawing anime and manga drawings, but most of the time, I’ll draw more realistic drawings.”
