Langham Creek and Austin HS grads face off on the college diamond
Langham Creek high school graduate Lynsi Unruh and Austin high school graduate Sarah Smaltz matched up against each other in college softball Saturday.
Unruh’s Centenary squad fell to Mississippi College and Smaltz, 7-6.
Unruh gave up seven earned runs in seven innings pitched.
A Langham Creek graduate, Lynsi Unruh was named to the All-District Second Team and lettered in softball 3 times for the Lobos. An Academic All-District team player, she graduated with Cum Laude honors and is the daughter of Lisa Posey and Phil Unruh.
Smaltz went 3-for-4 with four runs driven in.
Smaltz played for Coach Terry Reyna at Stephen F. Austin High School. She recorded a .340 batting average, and earned 2005 Honorable Mention, 2006-2007 Second Team All-District and 2008 Most Valuable Player and First Team All-District
Smaltz is daughter of Randy and LeeAnn Smaltz. She is majoring in criminal justice.
