CFMCH to hold support group for new mothers
A free breastfeeding support group for new and expectant mothers will be held from 9:30-11 a.m. on the first and third Thursday of each month, hosted by Cypress Fairbanks Medical Center Hospital.
Discussions will be led by Jocelyn Possehl on a variety of topics such as returning to work, overcoming challenges, breastfeeding in public and starting solids. New mothers are encouraged to bring their babies to the meetings, with classes organized based on the age of the infant.
"These meetings are a wonderful opportunity for expectant mothers to talk with breastfeeding mothers, and for everyone to learn about breastfeeding basics and share their breastfeeding experiences," said Possehl in a news release. "Breastfeeding not only creates a strong bond between mother and child, but also has many benefits. Breast milk contains the right balance of nutrients to help your baby grow into a healthy toddler. Mothers who breastfeed may have a reduced risk for developing type 2 diabetes, postpartum depression and breast or ovarian cancers."
The group will meet in Classroom 2 of the Cy-Fair Hospital Professional Building 1, located at 11302 Fallbrook Drive. For more information, visit www.cyfairhospital.com/support.
