Labay students create giant map of Texas
As an after-school project, the Labray Middle School Texas History Club created a 32-by-32-foot map of Texas.
Students at Labay Middle School have created a 32-by-32-foot map of the state of Texas as part of an after-school project.
The Texas History Club, an after-school group of 15 to 20 students in grades six through eight, completed the map using several 8-inch grids.
The project began in January 2008 under the guidance of Labay Middle School history teacher Dan Hoffman with the intention of entering the map into the Guinness Book of World Records.
The club applied to the Guinness Book in November 2011, but could not qualify for a record category.
Labay Middle School is located at 15435 Willow River, Houston.
