He likes teaching tots to tee off

Cole Cunningham, a fifth-grader at Swenke Elementary School, said he enjoys playing golf and intends to continue to develop his skill in the game and that he hopes one day to mentor others who are learning. "This summer, I am excited to play in golf tournaments with Little Linksters," he said. "I like teaching my brothers Ben, 7, and Tyler, 4, and mentoring my kindergarten buddy at school. When I am older, I would like to volunteer to work with the First Tee."

Accomplishments: Made the Honor Roll, completed "Birdie Level" in the First Tee, chosen to play in the First Tee National School Program Champions Challenge in 2011, perfect attendance at Swenke Elementary in 2011, placed second in the Name That Book Competition 2011-2012.

Favorite class: "Reading. I love to read all kinds of books, but especially series like 'Harry Potter,' 'Percy Jackson' and 'The Hunger Games.' I've received an 'A' in reading on all my report cards since I started school."

Favorite things to do after class: "Golfing, reading, playing with my brothers and friends, playing video games, swimming in my pool."

Favorite book: " 'The Hunger Games.' I like this book because it is very action-packed, and the main characters are brave."

Favorite song: "Party Rock Anthem." It is a fun song that makes me want to sing."

Favorite TV show: " 'MAD TV.' I like it when they make fun of movies and TV shows."

Favorite movie: " 'Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows, Part II.' It is the last Harry Potter movie, and the ending is very suspenseful. Harry finally realizes his destiny."

Ambition: "I would like to continue to play golf and to mentor other kids who are learning to play. I would like to make my high school golf team and receive a golf scholarship to Texas A&M. I love to play golf and think it is fun to teach it to other people. I hope that golf will continue to help me with patience and perseverance."
