New Langham Creek High School principal named

David Hughes has been named as principal Cheryl Johns’ replacement at Langham Creek High School.

Johns announced her retirement last month. Hughes will move up from his current position as associate principal at Cypress Ranch High School.

Hughes has served as associate principal at Cypress Ranch since it opened in 2008. Previously, he was assistant principal at Cy-Fair High from 2003 to 2008 and has served as the summer school principal for Cy-Fair and Cypress Ranch high schools.

He began his teaching career abroad at Norton Priory School in Runcorn, England, before spending two years at Spring Woods High School as a U.S. history teacher and coach. Hughes joined Cy-Fair ISD in 1984 as a teacher and coach at Langham Creek High School, where he served eight years before moving to the same position at Cypress Falls High.

His education background includes a bachelor of education degree from Chester College at Liverpool University in the United Kingdom and a master of educational administration degree from Prairie View A&M University.

“I began my career in CFISD as a teacher and coach at Langham Creek High School in 1984 and am thrilled to return as its new principal,” Hughes said in a press release. “I am excited for the opportunity and look forward to building relationships with the students, staff and community. One of my goals will be to continue to build on an already excellent reputation.”
