Heights-area fire sparks lawsuit against Cy-Fair company
A Cy-Fair company is being sued over claims its water sprinkler system failed to activate during a Heights-area building fire.
Breof BNK3A Main Street filed a lawsuit on Friday, June 8 in the Harris County District Court against Simplexgrinnell, Firetrol Protection Systems and Firewater Services, of Cy-Fair, citing negligence, gross negligence and negligent misrepresentation.
Breof says on Aug. 30, 2010, a fire erupted in its Heights-area building, located at 712 Main St. It took firefighters more than four hours to contain the blaze because the internal water fire-suppression system, inspected by the defendants, failed to produce the water pressure needed to put out the flames, according to the brief.
Breof is seeking attorney's fees, damages and court costs. It is being represented in the case by Houston attorney W. Montgomery Briscoe.
