Houston Police Department seeking assistance regarding 1991 murder case
The identity of a man found shot and stabbed to death 20 years ago in the 1400 block Gazin remains a mystery.
Houston Police have arrested and charged Benito Covarrubias-Ramirez, 49, and Oklahoma resident Alejo Ramirez-Garcia, 41, in connection with the Aug. 31, 1991, murder, according to a Houston Police Department news release. Detectives reported the men admitted their involvement in the crime.
Although the two have been arrested in connection with the case, police say they still do not know the identity of the victim. He is described as a Hispanic man who was between the ages of 20-30 when murdered.
Investigators say the murderers shot and stabbed the victim numerous times and then dumped his body in a field located at 1400 Gazin.
The case remained cold until May, when new details about the murder surfaced, according to the release.
Anyone who recognizes the victim is asked to call the Houston Police Department's Homicide Division at 713-308-3600 or Crime Stoppers at 713-222-8477.
