League City Public Works taps Baumgartner as assistant city manager

League City welcomes new Assistant City Manager of Public Works John Baumgartner.

City Manager Mike Loftin has chosen Baumgartner to hold the position of assistant city manager for Public Works; Baumgartner will oversee the engineering, facilities maintenance, fleet, line repair, streets and stormwater, traffic management, wastewater and water production departments. He will also oversee the city's solid waste and recycling contract and will serve as the acting city manager in Loftin's absence.

"Water and infrastructure are some of the most important issues facing League City today," Loftin said in a press release. "I believe that John Baumgartner has the experience and skills to work with our team to continue addressing those needs."

Baumgartner is a Texas-registered professional engineer with more than 23 years of experience in municipal government, engineering and public works operations. He recently served as the director of engineering and transportation for the City of Allen.

"I am very excited to join the League City team and work with the council, staff and the community to continue to build upon their success in making League City a wonderful place to call home," Baumgartner said in a press release. "My family and I are looking forward to our move to League City in late July and reporting to work on Aug. 1."
