First high-fidelity hemodialysis simulation lab to open in Harris County

Nursepreneur Global Educational Oasis will open the state's first high-fidelity hemodialysis simulation lab to students this month.

The lab will provide dialysis experience for students with the goal of promoting quality health care.

Through a student-focused platform using technology such as online collaboration, social media, podcasting, roundtable discussion, case studies and role play, the dialysis simulation bridges the gap between theory and practice, according to a press release.

The simulation creates scenarios students may encounter in the real world and allows them to practice without risk of harming patients. The program lasts 13 weeks and includes 90 hours of theory and 60 hours of simulation lab with a 6-1 student-teacher ratio.
