'Postcards: Then and Now' running July 17 to Aug. 16 at LSC-CyFair Bosque Gallery
The "Postcards: Then and Now" exhibition by ceramics artist Suzanne Shield-Polk will be on display from July 17 to Aug. 16 in the Bosque Gallery at Lone Star College-CyFair, located at 9191 Barker Cypress Road.
The exhibit will feature video images projected onto ceramic bottles and a wall installation. Gallery hours are 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. Tuesday through Thursday.
Shield-Polk studied ceramics with Jacques Bakke, who was a student of famous potter Warren Mackenzie. She also worked as a production potter in Texas and as an art director for the film industry in California.
After deciding to focus on visual art, Shield-Polk went on to teach art and earn a master of fine arts degree in ceramics, sculpture and video at California State University, Northridge.
Currently, Shield-Polk is the Art Department chair at Lone Star College-CyFair and the head of the ceramics area.
The public will have the opportunity to meet Shield-Polk and discuss her work at a reception taking place from 1:30-3:30 p.m. Aug. 15.
