Cypress runner tops Nolen Vargas Scholarship 5K
Matt Miller, 26, of Cypress, topped the Nolen Vargas Scholarship 5K with at time of 16:34.
The event was Saturday, June 30 in New Braunfels to honor the memory of Nolen Vargas, a member of the Canyon High School Cross Country and Track teams. A total of 281 runners finished the 5-kilometer race.
The race was sponsored by the Canyon Cross Country team and the New Braunfels Running Club.
Miller was the men's overall winner, while Sarah Boatright, of New Braunfels, was the women's winner in 20:07.
