Atlanta trades for Cy Creek HS standout Paul Janish
The Atlanta Braves helped their infield on Saturday by acquiring Cy Creek High School standout and minor league shortstop Paul Janish in a trade with the Cincinnati Reds.
Minor league pitcher Todd Redmond was sent to Cincinnati.
Janish has a .221 batting average with seven home runs and 70 RBI in 324 games.
Janish has spent this season at Triple-A Louisville, batting .237 in 49 games.
Janish is a 2001 graduate of Cypress Creek High School. He played college baseball at Rice University for three seasons (2002 to 2004).
Janish was drafted in the fifth round (138th overall) of the 2004 Major League Baseball drafted by Cincinnati. He spent parts of five seasons in the Reds organization before making his big league debut on May 14, 2008.
Janish was born Oct. 12, 1982, in Cypress.
