Sheriff's Office investigates shooting at South Highway and Rancho Mission

The Harris County Sheriff's Office continues to investigate after an unknown suspect shot a woman in a parking lot at South Highway and Rancho Mission Drive.

Investigators say just before 4 p.m. July 5, deputies in a nearby storefront heard the shots, responded to the parking lot and found the woman.

The victim, who was shot multiple times, was apparently in the parking lot because her car broke down, according to Harris County Sheriff's Office news release.

According to the report, medics arrived and airlifted the woman to a local hospital for treatment.

During the incident, witnesses claim to have seen a vehicle drive away from the scene, according to the release.
