Boogie Blues and Brews to benefit local charities
The Boogie Blues and Brews festival will be held from 6-10 p.m. Sept. 21, noon to 10 p.m. Sept. 22 and noon to 7 p.m. Sept. 23 at the Walter Hall Park, 807 Highway 3 North in League City.
The festival will feature blues and rock artists such as Los Lonely Boys, Marcia Ball and Jimmie Vaughn, and the Tilt-A-Whirl Band featuring Lou Ann Barton.
Friday, Sept. 21 will be “League City Hometown Night” to celebrate the city's 50th birthday. This event will feature Umbrella Man and Step Rideau and the Zydeco Outlaws.
Performances on Saturday will include the Octanes, Luther and the Healers, Texas Johnny Brown and the Quality Blues Band, Marcia Ball and Jimmie Vaughn as the closing act.
Sunday will feature a gospel brunch with performances by local gospel artists, followed by saxophonist Grady Gaines and the Texas Upsetters. Headliners Los Lonely Boys will close out the festival.
A portion of the ticket revenue will go to the Galveston County Food Bank and Clear Creek Environmental Foundation. For more information, visit galvestoncountyfoodbank.org or clearcreekcleanup.org.
Tickets for Hometown Night on cost $5 with a canned good donation, otherwise the event will cost $10 in advance for every day of the festival or $15 at the gate. The weekend ticket price will be $20. Children under 12 and seniors over 65 will receive free admission.
